Here are some plein air landscapes, from the French phrase, "en plein air" meaning paintings that are done outdoors with the subject in full view. They are usually smaller in size and less detailed, being completed on location in about 2-3 hours. The challenge is to just capture the essence of the scene without the details. The spontaneous, loose brushstrokes lend a charm to these pieces that can be lost when doing larger, more complex "studio" paintings.
